Cala en Blanes is one of the largest tourist resorts on the island of Menorca. It is located on the North West coast of Menorca, just North of Ciutadella, the former capital city of the island. There are plenty of restaurants, shops and activities to choose from within Cala en Blanes resort, but the city of Ciutadella is only a five minute drive from the resort and definitely worth a visit. Other attractions nearby include the lighthouse at Punta Nati and the unique dome-shaped animal shelters made of stone along the road to the lighthouse and in the nearby region. Some of these stone shelters can even be seen from the road to the resort itself.
Calan Blanes Beaches
Cala en Blanes has several smaller beaches throughout the resort. The beach in the bay of Cala en Blanes is the largest and has given the name for this resort. The bays of Cala Piques, Cala en Forcat, Cala en Brut and Cala en Blanes make for a nice variety to choose from.
Cala Piques
Cala Piques is a quieter bay with a small beach of fine sand and a space that has been cleared into the surrounding rock has some sunbeds and exceptionally fine sand that is so fine it may be considered "dust".
Cala en Forcat
Cala en Forcat is one of the most unique bays in Menorca. It is actually one bay that forks into two smaller ones, each with a small beach at the end. These bays are surrounded by high rocks and are connected with a lovely pathway with steps, a small bridge and sunbathing decks - making it truly unique. There is a diving school located in the bay of Cala en Forcat.
Cala en Brut
Cala en Brut is a smaller bay that does not really have a beach at the end, instead there are sunbathing decks with lovely seaviews and ladders for taking dips into the turquoise waters below. With no sand, this bay is ideal for adults who want to sunbathe and swim in a quieter atmosphere.
Cala en Blanes
Cala en Blanes is the largest beach in the resort by the same name, but it is still relatively small when compared to beaches in other resorts. As it is the main beach of the resort, there are more facilities and naturally it is more popular. There is a snackbar on the beach.
